William Christiansen has won, not one, but two awards in 2018 Michigan History Magazine’s “Enjoy Michigan” Back Cover Photo Contest with his photos titled “Bird in the Light at the Pictured Rocks” and “The Mighty Mac.”
Photos needed to represent something historical in Michigan and were judged on overall clarity and technical quality with attention to composition, color, and creativity. Both Photos were taken with a Nikon D5200 purchased from Norman’s Camera in Kalamazoo.

The Pictured Rocks photo was taken in Munising, MI from the top level of the tour boat during the sunset cruise. The bird was a happy and welcome accident of timing. The Pictured Rocks Photo is on the back cover of the 2018 January/February issue of the Michigan History Magazine.
