Artist's Description

This shot was taken in Ketchikan, Alaska in the morning rain during low tide at Herring Cove. The bear was looking for fish trapped in the low tide waters while slowly walking toward us as we watched from the far bank. I'm often asked how close I was to That Bear (hence the title). Not close at all. I captured this image using a very long lens just as the bear noticed us for the first time.

Bill was born and raised in Southwest Michigan and has lived in the Schoolcraft area since he married his beautiful wife Deb fifteen years ago.
